Sharing My Passion With the World

“Beauty and seduction are nature's tools for survival because we protect what we fall in love with.”
~ Louie Schwartzberg,
Nature, Beauty, Gratitude

It worked for me, I fell in love with the natural world as a young child. My wonderful mother took me tramping on the Wangapeka Track when I was eight years old and if there had ever been any doubt before then (not that I think there was), there definitely wasn't any afterwards. I remember being so amazed by everything I saw - the intricate patterns made by the moss and lichen dangling from tree branches, young trees growing on boulders scattered throughout the forest, quiet creeks where we stopped for lunch, how the forest became stunted as we approached the bushline, and then passing out into grassy alpine meadows, the warm sunshine turning morning dew to rising clouds of steam, the giant dragonflies that flocked around my bright pink sunhat, the weka and the blue ducks. I was so impressed by how beautiful it was out there in the bush and the mountains, that on the last day of our four day trip, I told Mom that I now knew what I wanted to be when I grew up. A tramper!

Now I am grown and my passion in life is still nature and the beauty and wonder I see there, whether out in the bush or the mountains or in a local city park. I am at a point in life where I am faced with questions regarding what I am going to do with my life. After some thought and recent discussion with several people, I've come to realise that I want to share the beauty and wonder I see in the natural world with you, the people of the world. I want to help you see the beauty, wonder and magic present in life. I want to inspire you. I want to brighten your day.

This seems the perfect place to start. A place where I can share my photography and words with you. I'd love to have you join me so together we can explore, find beauty in and be inspired by the world around us, as we spend our lives treading soft earth.

  3. Hello! I go by the name Elfstar, and nothing stirs my passion more than Nature. I'm inspired by your writing and photography. I'm inspired by reading about your experiences and passion for Nature in New Zealand. You have indeed brightened my day, and I look forward to reading more, and looking at the fantastic pictures. I left my emails address so I'll get notices and bookmarked you too. Keep up the great work!

  4. This was truly a great find. It was so inspiring to read the words and very relaxing. It's late here, and so quiet outside, so it was one of those 'meant to be' moments. The pictures are very calm and powerful in what feelings & memories they evoke, the kind of feeling you feel from a memory you may not have had yet. Thank you for sharing this! I look forward to seeing & reading more. Gav
